Struvite Dissolution is a complete dietetic cat food for adult cats, and should be used for the dissolution of struvite stones and to help reduce feline lower urinary tract disease. The sodium levels in this food has been increased to encourage your cat to drink more water, which helps to flush out the bladder. Urine control: A urine pH at 6.0 – 6.3 dissolves existing struvite crystals and prevents precipitation of new struvite crystals. High urine volume: The increased sodium content promotes diuresis, which is associated with reduced urinary mineral concentrations and increased urinary frequency. Note: While useful in the short term, excess sodium can cause damage to kidney function if sustained over longer periods of time. It is recommended that this diet only be used for a period of 5 to 12 weeks, and even then only after checking with your vet first.
